Basic site but friendly owner and warm welcome! No hassle

This is a lovely off-grid campsite and I've stayed here a few times over the last couple of years. A bit pricey because they charge per person per night instead of just for the plot. The logs are overpriced as well. However I do like staying here and the lady that runs it is pleasant. Should be open all year round for hardened campers lol.

Had a lovely time here, stayed for 3 nights. We stayed in the week in October so it was very empty. This is worth bearing in mind if you are prone to not liking the dark and silence (for us this was lovely and peaceful). Lots of lovely walks nearby to keep you busy through the day. Make sure you take an air bed and roll Matt as the floor can be hard. Really nice toilets and showers. Way better than expected. Very friendly staff that were always on hand if we needed anything. We will stay again. Emily and Callum

This is a wonderfully different experience from the normal and offers a chance to stay in the woods in your own defined clearings surrounded by nature. The plots have been cleverly arranged to give you privacy and the feeling that the woods are all yours. There are perfectly adequate and well maintained facilities, above and beyond what you would expect given the utilities available to the owners (none). Camp fires are positively encouraged, there are logs for sale and cooking grates to rent- and this was the only area any rules were made known to us. Our children couldn't resist dragging some fallen wood from near the local rugby club and set about burning it which was apparently the wrong thing to do. The owners care about their environment, including the dead wood insects make use of, and will ask you to respect their wishes when it comes to managing the woods and only burn suitable logs which they are happy to provide. Otherwise you are left alone to enjoy yourselves. The ground at the top of the North Downs is flinty so bring a decent mallet to get tent pegs in the ground, and maybe foam mats to go under inflatable beds. Bring plenty of your own drinking water, otherwise don't hesitate to book it and enjoy nature at its best!Mike
